세부시장, 컨테이너 야적지 금지 계획 고려

Cebu City mayor wants to ban container yard operations

Mayor Mike Rama is again considering the possibility of imposing a ban on container yard operations in Cebu City to address traffic congestion.
Rama first pitched the idea around 12 years ago.
Since then, the mayor claimed that he has seen no improvement in the operation of the city’s container yards.
Instead, he observed the mushrooming and the worsening congestion of container yards at the North Reclamation Area.
Rama believes the time has come to take his proposal to prohibit container yard operations in the city more seriously.
“Because we wish to have the road, especially for traffic, [and the presence of] big container vans [will] definitely add up to [the] problem on traffic,” he explained.
Rama said that as soon as his plans are finalized, he will issue a directive giving container yard operators six months to relocate.

세부 시의 마이클 라마 시장은 세부시 항구와 가까운 도로의 교통 혼잡을 해결하기 위한 방법으로 해당 지역의 컨테이너 야적장 운영 금지를 검토하고 있다.
그는 약 12년 전인 2010년에 처음 같은 제안을 고려한 바 있다.
마이클 라마 세부시장은 이후 10년 이상의 시간이 흐르는 동안 세부 시의 컨테이너 야적장 운영이 개선된 것으로 본 적이 없다고 지적했다.
그리고 그는 북부 매립지(노스 레클레멘션) 지역의 컨테이너 야적장이 갈수록 혼잡해지고 우후죽순으로 컨테이너 야적이 늘어 문제를 만들고 있다고 덧붙였다.
때문에 라마 시장은 세부시에서 컨테이너 야적장 운영을 금지하려는 자신의 계획을 심각하게 고려하고 있다고 언급했다.
계획이 확정되는 즉시 라마 시장은 컨테이너 야적장 운영자에게 작업을 다른 지역으로 이전할 수 있도록 6개월의 유예 기간을 부여하라는 지시를 내릴 계획이다.
