올들어 콜레라 환자 급증

Cholera cases up by 254% from Jan. 1-Nov. 2

The Philippines has logged 4,102 cholera cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 2, a 254 percent increase as compared to the same period last year, the Department of Health reported Wednesday.
The latest tally is 2,943 cases higher than the 1,159 cases reported last year. However, the reported cholera cases are described to be “on a plateau” in the recent week.
We don’t see a rise in cases as it is currently on a plateau and at the level of the alert and epidemic threshold of cholera cases in the previous weeks,” Department of Health-Epidemiology Bureau Director Alethea de Guzman said in an online forum.
About 52 percent or 2,132 of the tally are females and 18 percent or 731 are children ages 5 to 9 years old.
A total of 37 deaths due to cholera were reported nationwide.

그리고 보고된 콜레라 발병 사례 중 상당수가 최근 발생하여 정체된 것으로 설명했다.
콜레라 발병 환자 중 약 52%는 여성이며, 18%는 5세에서 9세 사이의 어린이이다.
전국적으로 콜레라로 인한 사망자는 37명으로 집계되었다.
최근 발생한 태풍의 영향이 콜레라 발병 사례에 영향을 미치는지 여부는 아직 알 수 없다고 보건부 관계자는 말했다.
특히 중부 루손, 서부 비사야, 동부 비사야 지역 등이 지난 4주 동안 콜레라 경보 수치에 도달했다.
그 외 앤티크, 바탄, 네그로스 옥시덴탈, 북부 사마르, 바콜로드 바기오, 잠보앙아, 마닐라 등지에서도 지난 3~4주 동안 콜레라 발병율이 유의미하게 증가했다.

Typhoid fever cases rise by 150%

The Philippines has logged 12,124 typhoid fever cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 2, but no regions have been reported above the epidemic threshold, the Department of Health said on Wednesday.
The tally is 150 percent or 7,280 cases higher than the 4,844 infections reported last year for the same period.
“Like cholera, typhoid cases are on a downward trend, but we will monitor any increase in cases,” Department of Health - Epidemiology Bureau Director Alethea de Guzman said in an online forum.
While higher than 2021 and 2020, typhoid fever cases this year were lower than the weekly infections reported during the pre-pandemic years. They also remain below the epidemic threshold.
A total of 56 deaths due to typhoid fever were recorded nationwide. About 17 percent of the cases are children ages one to four years old.
Batangas, Bohol, Bukidnon, Cagayan City, Catanduanes, Cebu, Davao City, Guimaras, Misamis Occidental, Mountain Province, Negros Occidental, Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Sarangani, and Santiago City had positive growth rates of typhoid fever cases in the past three to four weeks.
“These areas which we have listed under places with increase in typhoid cases have no relation with Typhoon Paeng, but again, it is part of our close monitoring,” de Guzman said.

전국적으로 장티푸스로 인한 사망자는 총 56명으로 집계되었으며, 사례의 약 17%는 1세에서 4세 사이의 영유아이다.
보건부는 특히 바탕가스, 보홀, 부키논, 카가얀 시, 카타두아네스, 세부, 다바오, 귀마라스, 미사미스 옥시덴탈, 네그로스 옥시덴탈, 누에바 에시하, 리잘, 산티아고 시 등이 지난 3년 동안 유의미한 장티푸스 환자 유병률을 보였다고 언급했다.
