세부 보트 제작사, 한국 회사에 요트 건조

Cebu boat builder to construct yachts for Korean firm

A SOUTH Korean firm has tapped Cebu-based marine vessel builder Seals Boatyard Inc. for the construction of luxury yachts to answer the maritime travel demand amid the tourism boom in the North East Asian nation.
Jeju Sea World, based in Jeju Island in South Korea, recently signed a build contract with Seals, with the vessel targeted for delivery by 2023.
A 14-meter Catamaran yacht will be the first luxury yacht to be built by Seals Boatyard for Jeju Sea World.
South Korea is said to be recognized as a developing destination in the yacht charter business. With the growing number of tourists who visit South Korea, especially Jeju Island, demand for marine tourism is rapidly increasing, a trend that is also seen in the Philippines.
Noting the growing tourism market, Jeju Sea sees opportunities in the promising maritime tourism market that led it to expand and tap the Cebu company to build its yachts.
“The scenic route with the rising sun that blazes on the far-off horizon dyes the sea red and fascinates viewers with breathtaking views of natural wonder, which has attracted both tourists and residents at Jeju Island. And the growth of the maritime industry that looks promising made us feel excited about expanding our operations and to have yachts built,” Jeju Sea chief executive officer (CEO) Hong Chol said.
Catamarans have gained rising popularity, while the yachting market is gaining momentum globally.
Seals is a local boat builder with a shipyard situated in Luyang, Carmen, northern Cebu.

한국의 제주도에 본사를 둔 제주 씨월드는 최근 Seals Boatyard Inc와 요트 건조 계약을 체결했으며, 선박은 2023년 인도를 목표로 하고 있다.
14미터 길이의 카타마란 요트는 Seals Boatyard Inc에서 제주 씨월드를 위해 건조하는 첫 호화 요트가 될 전망이다.
한국은 요트 전세 사업을 선도하는 국가로 잘 알려져 있으며 특히 제주도를 찾는 관광객이 늘면서 해양관광 수요가 급증하고 있다. 그리고 이러한 해양관광 수요의 증가는 필리핀에서도 볼 수 있는 추세이다.
성장하는 관광 시장에 주목하면서 제주의 씨월드는 세부 거점의 요트 건조 회사에 호화요트 건조를 요청하게 되었다.
한편 Seals Boatyard Inc의 CEO인 Doyle Figueras씨는 이것이 한국 회사를 위해 건조 중인 5척의 쌍둥이 요트 중 첫번째 시작이라고 말했다.
“믿을 수 있는 선박 건조업체로서 국제해상 산업에서 필리핀을 대표하게 되어 요트 건조를 의뢰받아 기쁘고 국제 표준 품질의 선박을 만들어 믿음직한 필리핀 기업이 될 것을 자랑스럽게 생각한다.”라고 그는 말했다.
그리고 이러한 요트 건조 산업의 발전이 세부 지역 주민들에게 더 많은 일자리를 창출할 것으로 기대한다고 덧붙였다.
