Tourists cry foul over ‘exorbitant fees’ at Kawasan

A group of local tourists aired their gripe over what they labeled as “exorbitant and confusing fees” at the famed Kawasan Falls in Badian town, about 103 kilometers south of Cebu City.
One of them, Edgar “Jie-Jie” Indino Jr., questioned why an additional P300 per head must be paid in going to the third level of the falls when, he said, it is very near the second level. He said they were surprised to learn of this policy because it was not imposed “three weeks ago.”
Indino told The FREEMAN that their eight-person group was not made aware of such fee when they paid their entrance fee of P55 per head.
What baffled them, he added, was that the in-charge at the ticketing station did not have an idea about such additional fee.

현지 관광객에도 이름 높은 관광지인 가와산 폭포는 세부 시에서 남쪽으로 약 103Km 정도 떨어진 곳이다.
최근 이 곳을 방문한 현지 관광객들이 일인당 추가요금 300페소를 내야 하는 것에 의문을 제기하며 불만을 갖고 있다.
원래 입장료는 1인당 55페소 수준이었으나, 3주전부터 추가요금이 부과되고 있다.
특히 일부 외국인들은 1인당 500페소의 추가요금을 내는 경우도 발생했다.
또, 본인이 가져간 구명조끼를 사용하더라도 여전히 구명조끼 대여료의 50%는 지불해야 한다는 것에도 관광객들은 불만을 갖고 있다.
구명조끼 대여료는 50페소이다.
또 폭포를 방문하려면 5명 그룹에 200페소의 요금으로 반드시 투어가이드를 고용하여 동반해야 한다.
관광객들의 불만에 따르면 특히 루손 지역에서 오는 방문객과 외국인들에게 징수하는 요금이 원래 가격과 큰 폭의 차이가 있으며, 심지어 매표소 직원도 가격을 헷갈려 한다고 전했다.
한편, 관계자는 가와산 폭포가 코로나19 전염병으로 인해 지난 1년 동안 폐쇄된 이후 5월 1일 재개장 하면서 투어가이드 비용 등 새로운 요금이 제정되었다고 밝혔다.
