Cebu-based meat shop expands amid ASF threats

Amidst the ongoing threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) especially in the provinces of Leyte, a Cebu-based meat shop is bent on pursuing an aggressive store opening in the region.
The retail arm of Virginia Farms Inc. (VFI), The Pork Shop, recently opened another store in Tacloban City last June 18, 2021, months after it opened its Ormoc City store.
“We operate our own farm in Asturias, Cebu and we also have our own slaughterhouse and meat cutting plant. In all our operations, we practice the highest standard and complies with all government standards,” said Virginia Farms, Inc. president Rolando E. Tambago.
ASF has affected several towns in Eastern Visayas, mostly in Leyte, when it first hit Abuyog last January 2021.

세부지방 정부는 초근 올목 지역에서 아프리카돼지열병(ASF)의 첫번째 사례를 확인한 후 세부지역의 돼지고기 육류 산업 관계자들에게 다시한번 주의를 당부했다.
올목은 세부북부의 카모테스 섬에서 배로 2시간 정도 떨어져 있다.
올목은 살아있는 돼지나 돼지고기 가공품이 세부 주로 유입되는 것이 금지된 지역 중 하나이다.
세부지방 정부는 지속적으로 ASF에 대한 경계를 강화하고 입도하는 육류제품에 대한 모니터링을 철저히 하겠다고 밝혔다.
각 지자체의 타운에는 동물 검문소도 설치되었다.
세부주에는 현재까지 ASF가 없다.
