Security Bank, 올해 필리핀 해외노동자(OFW) 송금액 4% 증가 전망

Remittances seen to grow by 4%

Security Bank Corp. expects remittances from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) growing by four percent to a record high $31 billion this year due to the ongoing global rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

Data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) showed personal remittances slipped by eight percent to $33.19 billion last year from $33.47 billion in 2019, while cash remittances coursed through banks declined by 0.8 percent to $29.9 billion from the previous all-time high of $30.13 billion.

Prior to last year, remittances last contracted to $6.03 billion in 2001 from $6.05 billion in 2000 primarily due to the Asian financial crisis and the political controversies during the administration of former president Joseph Estrada.

Security Bank는 전 세계적 코로나19 백신 보급으로 인해 올해 필리핀 해외노동자(OFW) 송금액이 4% 증가할 것으로 전망했다.

이는 필리핀 중앙은행(BSP)의 2021년 목표치와 일치한다.

필리핀 중앙은행의 자료에 따르면 개인송금(Personal Remittance)은 2019년 334억 7천만 달러에서 –8% 감소한 331억 9천만 달러를 기록했으며, 은행을 통한 송금(Cash Remittance)은 2019년 역대 최고치인 301억 3천만 달러에서 –0.8% 감소한 299억 달러를 기록했다.

한편, 2020년 필리핀 해외노동자 송금액은 GDP의 9.2%를 차지했다.
