DOH says “it’s not something we worry about”: More Central Visayas cases with P.3 variant

The Philippine Genome Center has found the P.3 variant of the coronavirus in 19 more COVID-19 cases from Central Visayas but the Department of Health (DOH)-7 is not accepting this figure – at least for now.

“I am not accepting their number until they send the line list. We already recognized the 67,” said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, chief pathologist and spokesperson of DOH-7.

The 67 cases she is referring to are the cases that were in the first batch Central Visayas submitted to PGC for genomic sequencing.

67명의 사람들이 변종 바이러스 감염을 확인했다.

그러나 필리핀 보건부는 P.3 변종 바이러스를 비사야 바이러스로 명명하는 것에 의문을 제기했다.

그리고 보건부는 전염이나 심각한 중증의 증상에 영향을 주지 않기 때문에 크게 걱정할 것은 아니라고 언급했다.

성명서를 통해 보건부는 변종 바이러스 사례가 증가함에 따라 최소 공중보건 수칙을 엄격하게 준수해야 한다고 거듭 강조했다.

중부비사야 지역에 새로 도착한 백신의 일부가 있지만 지역 보건부는 여전히 중앙정부기관의 조치를 기다리고 있다.

보건부는 올해 말까지 약 5천만에서 7천만명까지 필리핀 전국적으로 집단 면역을 형성할 수 있기를 희망하고 있다.
