바랑가이 과달루페, 여전히 세부에서 코로나19 사례 선두

Brgy Guadalupe still leads active COVID cases in Cebu City, chief says residents don’t believe in virus

Barangay Guadalupe remains to have the most number of active Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Cebu City after a month of the rapid rise in cases.

In the daily trend released by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) from January 26, 2021, to February 8, 2021, Guadalupe keeps the highest number of cases at 167, followed by Barangay Labangon at 81 and Apas at 77.

Guadalupe Barangay Captain Michael Gacasan said this is expected as they have the highest population in the city at 80,000 residents, many of whom are workers in banks, hospitals, and other establishments.

The continuous movement of the people have been a challenge for the barangay prompting them to impose a Sunday lockdown for residents.

So far the lockdown has helped decrease the movement on the weekends, the days when most people are expected to go out, but this did not reflect in the number of cases in the barangay yet.

1월 26일부터 2월 8일까지 ECO가 발표한 사례에서 과달루페는 167건으로 가장 많고, 그 다음을 이어 라방온이 81건, 아파스 지역이 77건을 기록하고 있다.

과달루페의 바랑가이 캡틴 마이클 가카산 씨는 과달루페 지역의 인구가 8만명으로 시에서 가장 많으며, 이들 중 상당수가 은행과 병원 기타 대중 시설에서 일하고 있기 때문이라고 설명했다.

가카산 씨는 또한 지역 주민들이 아직도 코로나19라는 바이러스가 있다는 사실, 그리고 위험하다는 사실을 믿기를 거부하고 있다고 우려했다.
