세부시경찰, 예전처럼 밤 10시부터 통금했으면

CCPO wants old 10PM curfew back

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) wants the old schedule of curfew back.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of CCPO, said they will be making a recommendation before Mayor Edgardo Labella to reinstate curfew time at 10 p.m.

Parilla told reporters in a press conference on Monday, January 25, 2021, that their suggestion is in line with their efforts to strictly reinforce existing health protocols amid the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here.

“We request the mayor to move the curfew time to 10 p.m. We have observed that there’s still a lot of people outside because the curfew only starts at 11 p.m.,” explained Parilla.

Presently, the curfew in Cebu City starts at 11 p.m. and will end by 5 a.m. the next day.

The city, however, had longer curfew hours during its enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) phases in 2020, which began as early as 8 p.m. When it was downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) last August, local officials eased quarantine restrictions, including a shorter curfew time that started at 10 p.m.

세부시 경찰 측은 예전처럼 통금시간을 밤 10시부터 시작하기를 희망한다며 이를 라벨라 세부시장에게 권고하겠다고 말했다.

25일 열린 기자회견에서 경찰 관계자는 코로나19 바이러스 사례가 증가하는 가운데 기존의 건강 프로토콜을 더 엄격하게 강화해야 할 필요가 있다고 말했다.

그는 현행 밤 11시부터 시작되는 통금에 여전히 밖에 사람들이 많이 통행하고 있다고 지적했다.

현행 통금은 밤 11시부터 익일 오전 5시까지이다.

세부시 경찰의 보고서에 따르면 통금시간 위반은 검역패스 미소지와 사회적거리 미준수와 더불어 가장 많이 위반되는 검역 제한 조치 중의 하나이다.

세부시는 작년 9월부터 필리핀에서 가장 편안한 형태의 지역사회 검역조치인 MGCQ(Modified General Community Quarantine)하에 놓여 있다.
