30대 이상의 현대화 지프니 세부시 운행 추가 도입

Another 100 units of modernized jeepneys of Cebu People’s Jeep are expected to ply various routes in Metro Cebu after 30 units of the Lahug Apas Transport Cooperative started to operate last January 16, 2021.

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 7 regional director Eduardo Montealto, Jr. said yesterday that the 30 modern public utility jeepneys (MPUJs) operate the routes of Lahug, Apas to Carbon and vice versa.

Montealto said the provisional authority to operate for the other 100 units is now on process.

“Once mahuman na ang ilang provisional authority then we will issue their special permit to operate. Expected maka-operate na sila within this month,” Montealto said.

Montealto added that supposed to be the 50 units of MPUJs of Cordova Lapu-Lapu Metro Cebu Transport Cooperative will arrive on January 20 but it seems there is a delay.

16일부터 라훅과 아파스 지역에서 깔본 시장을 잇는 노선을 중심으로 30대의 현대화 지프니가 추가적으로 도입되었다.

이로써 세부시에 현대화된 지프니가 현재 100대 이상 다양한 노선을 운행하고 있다.

또 다른 100여댕의 현대화된 지프니가 운영을 할 수 있을지 특별 운영허가 발급 과정이 현재 진행 중이다.

또, 20일 추가될 예정이었던 50대의 현대화된 지프니는 일정이 다소 지연될 예정이다.

LTFRB-7이 대중교통 현대화프로그램을 예정대로 작업하면, 올해 약 4,000대의 현대화된 지프니가 세부에서 운영하게 될 것으로 예상된다.

일각에서는 현대화된 지프니가 계속적으로 투입되어 대중교통으로서 자리를 잡게 되면 결국은 전통적인 지프니는 대중교통에서 퇴출될 것으로 예견하고 있다.
