New traffic policy in Consolacion causes bottlenecks

Heavy traffic greeted the first day of the implementation of the “no left turn, no crossing” policy in Consolacion town on Monday, a holiday.

The new traffic policy also drew criticisms from motorists and commuters for causing traffic bottlenecks in northern metro Cebu.

A motorist said it took them over an hour to reach Barangay Lamac from SM Consolacion.

“SM Consolacion to Lamac , 1hr kapin. Forcing people to go the opposite way while being stuck in traffic is beyond insane,” the motorist said.

To ease traffic congestion, the municipal government of Consolacion is proposing to establish a second u-turn slot at Wheeltek/Kayda Cafe in Yati, Liloan town for buses, and big trucks.

지난 7일 공휴일부터 콘솔락션 지역에서 새로운 교통정책이 실시되면서 극심한 교통체증이 발생했다. 새로운 교통현상은 병목 현상을 일으킨다며 운전자와 통근자들의 큰 불만을 일으키고 있다.

한 운전자는 SM콘솔락션에서 바랑가이 라막까지 도착하는데 한 시간 이상이 걸렸다고 불평했다.

새로운 교통 정책은 Laray (Francis Burton Harrison Avenue)에서 Mountain Hi-Way까지 또는 그 반대의 경우까지 횡단이 불가하다.

또 라막 교차로에서 세부시로 진입하는 차량은 좌회전을 할 수 없다.

이 때문에 릴로안 지역에서 Maglasang 도로까지 오는 차량도 적용을 받게 된다.

콘솔락션 정부는 버스와 대형트럭까지 이용할 수있는 유턴 슬롯을 설치할 것을 검토하고 있다.

또, 교통체계의 적용은 아직 진행 중이라며 운전자와 일반 대중에게 이해와 협력을 요청했다.
